Beckman, Ortho partner on ID testing
Beckman Coulter and Ortho Clinical Diagnostics have formed a strategic relationship regarding sales of Ortho’s Vitros 3600 Immunodiagnostic System and infectious disease menu in the U.S.
Ortho’s system offers a broad menu of infectious disease tests that are used by several of the leading reference laboratories in the United States. It combines three proprietary technologies into a single system that is self-monitoring, efficient, and easy to use. Under this strategic relationship, Beckman Coulter will place Ortho’s Vitros 3600 System running HIV and hepatitis assays in laboratories that currently run Beckman’s Power Processor Sample Handling Systems and in certain other very high-volume laboratories.
“We look forward to working with the impressive team at Ortho to bring Ortho’s high-quality infectious disease testing to our customers,” John Nosenzo, senior vice president, customer operations, developed markets at Beckman Coulter, said in a statement. “This relationship provides both immediate opportunity and long-term value as we continue to enhance efficiency, advance patient care, and broaden our customer offerings. Through this relationship, we will be able to apply innovative technologies to deliver enhanced solutions to the highest-volume labs in the U.S.”
Beckman Coulter and Ortho will also collaborate to obtain clearance or approval from the Food and Drug Administration to connect the Vitros 3600 System to the Power Processor to run infectious disease tests.
